As mentioned below, Brass Black is the same stuff. Here in the US, it is available almost everywhere. I order mine from Amazon And it also works on the metal that is used in the model kits. You will find John that all the cannons and other metal parts in the San Felepe will need to be treated, and finally, it works great on brass chains and rudder parts.

Bonjour John je suis surpris que vous ne connaissiez pas se produit beaucoup de modélisme l’utilise sur UA-cam j’avais eu envie de vous en parler quand vous étiez sur le Victory parce qu’il y avait beaucoup de pièces en laiton se qui fait un fini antique mais pour les canons je préfère les peintures avec la dernière peinture que vous aviez présenté je trouve que c’est plus beau.Mais c’est intéressant d’avoir une option de plus. Je crois que vous avez fait un choix pour votre prochain projet j’aurais aimé que vous auriez fait le Amarego il est très intéressant et différent. Merci Normand 🇨🇦

Birchwood Casey Brass Black 3oz liquid - black metal finishing antiques plaques. Available on ebay in the UK. Its expensive but vey good results, hope this helps.

I have a question on copper plating. Love your work , I’m going to rehab an old model with copper hull. Do you make scratch build plates with rivets tool ?? Also do you clear coat the copper hull ?

Hello, I don't think the real Cutty Sark had a second belaying pin rail that high up on the rigging. The rail on deck was the only one She had. Otherwise, a very nice build!

Very nice work. I wish I had all of this amazing information 30 years ago when I was building ship models (plastic ones). I did the USS United States, the Cutty Sark and I started the HMS Victory but never finished it because, when I got married, my wife had a cat and, in our little apartment, cats and rigging did not get along very well. Charlie (the cat), tried to help with the ropes but, in a fit of exuberance, he pushed the entire model down from its shelf. Poor Admiral Nelson never expected that! Thanks for posting this series. The biggest thing I've learned is to use super glue instead of fussing with all of the knots. Back in the day, standard model glue wouldn't dry fast enough to use in that manner. What is the trade-name for that glue you use? If I ever pick this hobby back up, I'm going to want to use it, too. Cheers.
